Monica Covington-Cradele, EdD, SLP

Monica Covington-Cradle, EdD, is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with over 25 years of experience. She earned her Doctorate of Education with a concentration in reading science from Mount St. Joseph University. Her expertise includes implementing large scale literacy initiatives, helping districts implement systematic change for culturally and linguistically diverse students and staff, training educators and state-level leaders in MTSS and assessments, and providing embedded classroom instructional coaching. Dr. Covington-Cradle has had the opportunity to serve a wide range of populations, including PreK-12 students with developmental delays, PreK-12 students with language-based literacy differences, and neurologically impaired adults.


As the Regional Director of implementation for the AIM Institute for Learning and Research, she worked with NYCPS central office, district teams, superintendents, principals, and teachers to implement their citywide literacy initiative, NYCReads. In the spring of 2025, Monica will begin teaching courses about the intersection of language and literacy to undergraduate and graduate students at St. John's University.


Dr. Covington-Cradle leverages her expertise in language, literacy, and implementation science to ensure that educators are equipped to provide expert literacy instruction to all students.
